Make Yourself at Home

The Enlightenment

The Forum is based on the Enlightenment coffee shops of the 17th century. However, the legacy of the movement is hotly debated and we can't just wind the clock back. As we recapture the vibrancy of dialogue and debate, what ideas should we recover from the original time, and what have we learned since then? Whatever conclusions we reach, there is no doubt that free and open dialogue has never been more important in a culture of post-truth and cancellation.
